2020年春、パンデミックにより空間デザインのエレメントが集まる展示会「BAMBOO EXPO 13」が中止になった。そこでタイル業界の有志が集まり結成したのがTILING WORLDだ。タイル業界一丸となってパンデミック収束を願い「竜」の壁画を制作し、2020年10月30日東京・恵比寿で開催された「BAMBOO EXPO 14」にて発表した。原画は空間デザイナーの小坂竜氏に依頼し、TILING WORLD各社のタイルを用いて私がタイリングした「竜」の壁画は、小坂氏自身も目を見張るほど躍動感に溢れ、タイルの可能性を感じさせるものとなった。

In spring 2020, BAMBOO EXPO 13, an exhibition of items of spatial design, was cancelled due to the pandemic. This is where TILING WORLD was formed by volunteers from the tile industry. The tile industry worked together to create a mural of a dragon in the hope of ending the pandemic, which was unveiled at BAMBOO EXPO 14, held in Ebisu, Tōkyō, on 30 October 2020. The dragon mural, the design of which was commissioned to spatial designer Ryū Kosaka, was tiled by myself using tiles from the companies participating in TILING WORLD. The resulting mural became so dynamic that Mr Kosaka himself was astonished by it, and showed the potential of tiles.
